On May 21, Minister Tran Hong Minh inspected key projects in Dong Nai, including Long Thanh Airport and Bien Hoa–Vung Tau Expressway, and worked with local leaders, investors, and contractors to speed up progress and address obstacles.

According to reports, construction on the four component projects of Long Thanh International Airport is progressing, with many packages staying on schedule. Component Project 1, which includes headquarters for key government agencies such as the Port Authority, Customs, Police, and Immigration, is expected to reach major completion milestones in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha acknowledged that although the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) previously cited difficulties in labor recruitment, current regulations have resolved these issues. He urged ACV to direct contractors to expand their workforce, implement “three shifts, four crews” schedules, and ensure labor health and safety on-site.

Minister Tran Hong Minh emphasized that Long Thanh is a national pride project, being one of the largest international airports constructed entirely by Vietnamese stakeholders. “This project symbolizes self-reliance and national determination. It carries the trust of the people and must meet the deadline”, he stated.

The Minister praised the positive momentum at the site, noting smooth coordination among contractors and no major land conflicts. However, he cautioned against complacency, urging all parties to sustain efforts and ensure full completion by December 2025, as mandated by the Government.

He also commended ACV for completing preparations and documentation for the second runway. “The appraisal is done. ACV must now finalize construction plans, allocate responsibilities, and prepare the site. Once ground is broken, construction must proceed without delay. Any arising issues must be resolved immediately”, he said.

During a morning field inspection, the Minister observed that two access roads to Long Thanh Airport—routes T1 and T2—are nearing completion and expected to ensure smooth transport connectivity. However, progress on the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway section running through Dong Nai remains problematic.

Minister Minh called for stronger engagement from both the project investor and the Dong Nai government, particularly on the road segments connecting to the airport. He stressed that all infrastructure must be synchronized and operational by end-2025.

For the expressway sections passing through Bien Hoa and Long Thanh, which are hindered by unresolved technical infrastructure issues, the Minister requested urgent intervention from local authorities. Contractors were instructed to increase equipment and workforce capacity to recover lost time, while project owners were told to take strict action against underperforming units.
