Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for a social housing project in Long Truong Ward on June 22, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh said the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly and the Government have introduced a series of key policies to promote social housing as a pillar of social welfare and the national housing strategy.

He noted that rental housing has been identified as a strategic pillar of housing development through 2030, with policy shifting from a primary focus on commercial housing to the parallel development of commercial and rental housing.

According to the Deputy Minister, Ho Chi Minh City has actively removed obstacles and accelerated social housing projects. During the 2021–2025 period, the city completed 18,143 social housing units, including 13,040 units in 2025, fulfilling 100% of the target assigned by the Prime Minister.

For the 2026–2030 period, the city has been tasked with delivering 181,257 social housing units, including 28,500 units in 2026. To support this goal, Ho Chi Minh City has earmarked around 1,400 hectares of land and identified 195 sites for social housing development.

Calling these achievements highly commendable, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh urged the city to continue facilitating project implementation, accelerate social and rental housing development, streamline investment procedures and encourage greater private-sector participation.

He also called on developers to prioritize financial resources, adopt advanced technologies and ensure compliance with construction standards so projects can be completed on schedule and meet quality requirements.
