Construction Minister Tran Hong Minh inspected the Cho Moi–Bac Kan Expressway, urging contractors to speed up work, finish the subgrade by June and ensure seamless links with the planned Ha Noi–Thai Nguyen–Cho Moi route under master plans.

On January 15, Politburo Central Committee member and Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh inspected the construction progress of the Cho Moi–Bac Kan Expressway, along with preparations for the Thai Nguyen–Cho Moi Expressway project.

During the site visit, the minister praised the investor and contractors for their efforts but called for additional machinery and manpower to speed up construction. He stressed that the entire subgrade, including bridges and culverts, must be completed by June to facilitate material transportation and balance excavation and embankment volumes.

He also instructed relevant agencies to review technical standards and soil grading plans, promoting the reuse of excavated soil for roadbeds and shoulders. Surplus soil should be utilized locally for land leveling, particularly in planned urban and commercial areas, to minimize wasteful long-distance disposal.

Regarding site clearance, the minister said that while resettlement areas are not yet completed, local authorities could arrange temporary accommodation for affected households, including the use of surplus offices following administrative restructuring. These households should later be prioritized in resettlement allocation.

Minister Tran Hong Minh agreed in principle to adding two interchanges to the Cho Moi–Bac Kan Expressway and requested agencies to balance funding for early implementation to support local industrial and urban development.

For the proposed full investment of the Ha Noi–Thai Nguyen–Cho Moi Expressway, he urged Thai Nguyen authorities to expedite procedures, with a minimum scale of four lanes and a design speed of 100–120 km/h, aiming to break ground no later than May 19.
