Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan calls for timely finalization of Long Thanh Airport plan
On July 2, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan chaired a Steering Committee meeting to accelerate preparations for Long Thanh Airport. The session focused on addressing obstacles and aligning stakeholders under the new local government model.
Deputy Minister Tuan called on the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and relevant agencies to finalize and implement the airport’s operational plan without delay. “It is essential to establish a clear timeline for trial operations and the official launch to ensure smooth, efficient functioning aligned with socio-economic development goals”, he stressed.

CV presented progress updates for the first half of 2025 and outlined tasks for the third quarter, while raising several challenges requiring coordinated solutions. Tuan instructed ACV to lead coordination efforts, review all operational components, and ensure consistency across procedures.
He emphasized that trial operations must begin no later than the end of 2025, with full readiness to provide services by that time.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha had tasked the Ministry of Construction with closely monitoring the progress of major infrastructure items to ensure substantial completion by the end of 2025.
ACV is currently working with contractors and suppliers to accelerate key milestones, including the second runway under Phase 1. The goal is to prepare the airport for commercial operations in the third quarter of 2026.
The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) has confirmed it will complete all assigned tasks within 2025.
For investment packages approved by the Ministry of Transport and signed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), investors have provided written commitments to meet deadlines. CAAV has also included contractual requirements to complete construction and service preparations by December 31, 2025.
