Japanese construction company Takenaka Corporation has signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding with Autodesk, Inc., a global software company to accelerate digital transformation within the construction sector.

By incorporating Autodesk’s extensive expertise, the company will strengthen the data infrastructure of the "Construction Digital Platform" it announced in December 2021. The partnership aims to promote the use of artificial intelligence throughout all phases of building projects, thereby reducing the time and workload required for decision-making and operational processes while improving overall quality.

The MOU was exchanged on 17 November.

Drawing on Takenaka’s accumulated knowledge from building projects and Autodesk’s advanced digital technologies for design, manufacturing, and construction, the two companies will collaborate in several areas, including: the establishment of a strategic partnership; promotion of proof-of-concept projects and data sharing; development of AI use cases and associated data sharing; and disclosure and dissemination of project outcomes.

Takenaka will deploy Autodesk’s advanced software technologies—such as the Autodesk Construction Cloud—to accelerate DX across every stage of building projects. The company also intends to develop and validate innovative AI-driven solutions. Moreover, Takenaka seeks to strengthen its technological competitiveness through overseas expansion supported by Autodesk’s network spanning approximately 40 countries and regions. Through this long-term perspective, the company aims to contribute to broader digitalization across the entire construction industry.
