Vietnam & France enhance cooperation on nuclear safety and radiation protection

During his visit to Paris, Deputy Minister Pham Minh Ha met with the French Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority (ASNR) to discuss nuclear plant licensing, safety standards, and cooperation on training and technical support.

On September 15 in Paris, a delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction led by Deputy Minister Pham Minh Ha held a working session with the French Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority (ASNR).

ASNR, formed in January 2025 through the merger of ASN and IRSN, presented France’s technical standards and guidelines for nuclear power plant construction and operation. The agency confirmed it would provide these materials in multiple languages and expressed readiness to support Vietnam with training programs.

Deputy Minister Pham Minh Ha emphasized Vietnam’s interest in nuclear plant licensing processes, safety regulations, and operational standards. He thanked ASNR for sharing detailed information and expressed hope for cooperation in training, technical assistance, and capacity building.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Ha appreciated the warm reception and affirmed that the Ministry of Construction looks forward to strengthening long-term cooperation with ASNR in the field of nuclear safety.
