(Construction) - Japanese architectural firm Azusa Sekkei will focus on business expansion in Vietnam. In addition to official development assistance projects, the firm will actively participate in local private projects.

The company is targeting social infrastructure such as airports, hospitals, sports facilities, and logistics facilities. Azusa Sekkei opened a Vietnamese office in Hanoi in 2009 and established a local subsidiary, Azusa Sekkei Vietnam, in 2015. The company has been steadily increasing the number of employees and currently has 15. In 2023, orders are expected to be four to five times higher than the previous year.

In February, Azusa Sekkei again signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CONINCO, a leading construction consulting firm in the country. The two companies signed an agreement in 2016 for design and supervising services related to the medical, sports, and aviation sectors. They have worked together on major projects such as the Kien Giang General Hospital and Phu Bai International Airport.

The company will also focus on strengthening the capacity of its own human resources. President Kyo Ariyoshi of Azusa Sekkei said, "Through projects in Vietnam, our employees in Japan can also learn global perspectives and ways of doing business. Growing together is the way we should strive to be," he said.

The company also plans to establish a production base in Vietnam that will be responsible for creating BIM data. President Ariyoshi recognizes that "as the need for BIM in Japan grows, it will be difficult to secure sufficient resources in Japan alone," adding, "We have many capable operators in Vietnam, and we would like to establish a production base as soon as possible.” (2023/03/31).
