Minister Tran Hong Minh addresses the committee session on key transport projects.

Reporting at the session, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh noted that Vietnam has completed 2,476 km of expressways, up 208 km since April 2025. The country is striving to finish the remaining 733 km across 22 projects, thereby achieving the Government’s target of 3,000 km of expressways by the end of next year.

Of these, the Ministry of Construction directly manages 11 projects and sub-projects totaling 444 km, all of which remain on schedule. Local authorities are preparing feasibility study reports for new sections, while investors and contractors continue work in line with approved timelines.

Regarding the Long Thanh International Airport, Minister Tran Hong Minh highlighted steady progress. Component Project 1 (headquarters) and Component Project 2 (air traffic management facilities) are set for completion by December 31, 2025. Component Project 3 (essential facilities) has already achieved over 50 percent of its workload, equivalent to VND 40.3 trillion. For Component Project 4 (other facilities), five out of six priority sub-projects have been launched, while the final one is under EPC contractor design.

"All investors have committed to substantially completing Long Thanh Airport’s workload before December 19, 2025", the Minister stressed.

To ensure progress, Minister Tran Hong Minh proposed that ministries and localities review their organizational arrangements, particularly land clearance units, so that the two-tier local government model does not delay construction or disbursement.

He further emphasized that the Ministry of Construction will coordinate groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies nationwide on December 19, 2025, while strengthening supervision and promptly advising the Prime Minister on measures to keep all projects on track.
