During a site inspection of the Cam Lo–La Son Expressway on July 9, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh instructed the project owner, contractors and consultants to speed up construction, particularly bridge works, to ensure the project is completed by the end of 2026.
Minister Tran Hong Minh directed contractors to speed up construction of the Cam Lo–La Son Expressway in a focused, coordinated and decisive manner.
While acknowledging progress achieved so far, the Minister noted that overall construction progress remains slower than expected and capital disbursement is lagging behind schedule. He said contractors have mainly focused on roadbeds and culverts, while bridge construction has yet to begin. Several major contractors were also found to be behind schedule.
The Minister directed project stakeholders to mobilize maximum manpower, equipment and materials, increase working shifts and organize construction in a focused and coordinated manner. He set a target of substantially completing the project by November 30 and handing it over by the end of December 2026 to facilitate timely capital disbursement.
The nearly 99-km project will expand the eastern section of the North–South Expressway between Quang Tri and Hue from two lanes to four lanes. With a total investment of more than VND 6.4 trillion, the project is managed by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board. Construction began in December 2025 and is scheduled for completion in December 2026.
