Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh on November 26 received and held talks with Vi Thao, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Hanoi, reaffirming the dynamic and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi in recent years.

Minister Tran Hong Minh highlighted the steady growth of the Vietnam–China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and noted Guangxi’s important role in deepening connectivity, trade and infrastructure links between the two sides.

He welcomed Guangxi’s cooperation proposals and stressed that the Chinese Government is supporting Vietnam in planning standard-gauge railway corridors, including the Dong Dang–Hanoi and Mong Cai–Ha Long–Hai Phong routes. He added that the Tra Linh–Dong Dang and Chi Lang–Huu Nghi Border Gate expressway projects would further enhance cross-border transport capacity, facilitating goods movement, tourism and economic cooperation.

The Minister also underscored the strategic importance of Beibu Gulf Port and expressed support for Vietnamese and Chinese shipping enterprises to increase container services between Beibu Gulf Port and Hai Phong Port, as well as other major ports in Vietnam.

Regarding the proposed China–Vietnam Joint Laboratory, Minister Minh welcomed collaboration between the Beibu Gulf Investment Group and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, calling it a meaningful initiative aligned with Vietnam’s priorities in digital transformation, sustainable infrastructure and scientific capacity building.

During the meeting, leaders of both sides also witnessed the signing of a cooperation document between Vietnam Maritime Corporation and Beibu Gulf Port Group.
