On May 7, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh inspected six social housing projects in Hanoi to push forward the national goal of building at least 100,000 affordable housing units by 2025 and address implementation challenges at the local level.

During the inspection, Deputy Minister Sinh visited housing developments in Thuong Thanh (Long Bien District), Uy No and Kim Chung (Dong Anh District), Ha Dinh and Kim Hoa (Thanh Xuan and Dong Da Districts), Thanh Lam (Bac Tu Liem District), and Dai Thinh 2 (Me Linh District).

At each site, he reviewed progress on land clearance, investment procedures, technical infrastructure, and investor engagement. He emphasized that social housing is a priority under the Government’s Resolution 11 and Project 338 on building at least one million affordable units by 2030.

Following the site visits, Deputy Minister Sinh held a working session with the Hanoi Department of Construction. He urged city authorities to urgently review and update their social housing development plans to ensure effective land use, project allocation, and investor selection.

“The focus must be on implementation. We cannot afford delays or backtracking”, he said.

The Deputy Minister also directed the city to remove procedural bottlenecks, especially in land allocation, compensation, and investment approval. He noted that Hanoi has many planned projects but few that have broken ground, posing a risk of missing national targets.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to closely coordinate with the capital city and other localities to accelerate social housing programs. “We must ensure that these projects are not only completed on time, but are also of good quality and truly meet people’s needs”, he said.
