A high-speed railway simulation lab has been inaugurated at Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UTH), marking a significant step forward in training and research for Vietnam’s railway sector.

Attending the inauguration ceremony on December 25, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh praised UTH’s efforts in investing in modern training facilities, noting that simulation-based training is an advanced method widely applied in countries with developed railway systems.

The simulation lab is designed to recreate operational scenarios and practical situations of high-speed and urban railway systems, enabling learners to improve professional skills, operational capacity and safety awareness in a controlled environment.

Speaking at the event, Minister Tran Hong Minh emphasized that the inauguration comes at a meaningful time as Vietnam enters a new development phase and gradually prepares for the construction of a modern railway network, including high-speed railways.

According to the Minister, the development of high-speed rail is a strategic orientation of the Party and the State, requiring advanced technologies, strict safety standards and highly qualified human resources. He noted that the Ministry of Construction is currently implementing several national strategic railway projects, facing challenges related to technology adoption, localization and workforce shortages.

The Minister called on UTH to effectively operate and fully utilize the simulation lab to meet real-world demands. He also encouraged the university to develop advanced training programs in high-speed railway technology, railway signaling and electricity, and railway safety, while strengthening cooperation with international experts, research institutes, enterprises and relevant authorities.

The goal, he said, is to promote the "Schools – Institutes – Enterprises – Administration Agencies" cooperation model, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s transportation sector.

The Ministry of Construction will continue to support UTH in strengthening its role within the national transportation training system, aiming to successfully implement Vietnam’s long-term transportation infrastructure development goals, the Minister affirmed.
