Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang led Viet Nam’s delegation to the 34th session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly held in London from 24 to 28 November.

Speaking at the opening plenary, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed Viet Nam’s strong support for the IMO’s priorities, including maritime safety, environmental protection, greenhouse-gas emission reduction and sustainable maritime development.
During the session, he met with IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, emphasizing Viet Nam’s appreciation of the organization’s central role in promoting a safe, efficient and sustainable global maritime sector.
The Vietnamese delegation also held bilateral meetings with representatives of the United Kingdom and the United States. Discussions with the UK focused on maritime transport, inland waterways and carbon-reduction initiatives aligned with IMO green-transition goals. At the meeting with the U.S. delegation, both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in maritime affairs.
On the sidelines of the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Xuan Sang and Ambassador Do Minh Hung also exchanged views on Viet Nam–UK cooperation in transport and maritime activities and reviewed member-state participation at the Assembly.
